Wow!

This story has really started to grow some legs. It has appeared in Newsweek, the Atlantic, Salon, and now has been picked up by the Associated Press.

The news about Ravenel being heavily involved with cocaine pales in comparison to Giuliani’s employment and friendship with an alleged child molester. Both associations are bad news for anybody running for President, but I would take the former over the later any day of the week.

Here is Marc Ambinder’s take on the story:

Giuliani Remains Loyal To A Priest Accused Of Molesting Boys And A Cover-Up

Rudy Giuliani’s consulting firm, Giuliani Partners, has for years employed a Catholic priest who was accused by a grand jury of orchestrating the over-up of nearly 60 separate molestations allegations — a priest who allegedly partook of the activities himself. The priest, Alan Placa, is one of Giuliani’s oldest friends; in turn, Giuliani has become Placa’s highest-profile defender.

This is a remarkable story about how, for Giuliani, the bonds of friendship can survive even the highest levels of moral radioactivity. If the court documents are accurate, if the allegations are true, even in part, it’s also the story of a very troubled priest who abused the trust of his young charges.

I first learned about this story earlier this year, when Giuliani opponents circulated a Newsday article at the Conservative Political Action Conference. Today, Salon fills in some of the blanks.

The basic facts are as follows.

I’m not sure what’s worse - employing a priest who was never convicted of child molestation who devoted years to the cloth or employing a twenty something douche bag that likes to pull people over and pretend he’s very important. He must have learned everything he knew about pretending to be important from Romney.

This is lush! What a week for team Rudy. Mysteries Inc. loves the mayor from NYC but damn what a week. First, the SC camp chair busted for COKE with a smile, then this thing. This type of stuff is why we left the catholic church a long time ago. But here is the real kicker. Check out the Village Voice archives to read the real story of the Rudy Giuliani administration including his secret ties to the mafia. There is where the true opposition research file lies.

Check out this series of articles on his appointee to the new york city housing authority Russell Harding, the son of the man who got Rudy elected mayor:

    Molesters vs. Fake Cops,

You cite that the priest has not been convicted, but in your same argument you cite an incident involving a Romney staffer, Jay Garrity, who has also not been convicted. I don’t know whether Romney’s body man did what he was accused of doing, but I do know the reason they didn’t charge this priest was due to the statue of limitations not lack of evidence.

Also unlike Rudy, who is still employing this accused child molester, Romney has suspended his body man indefinitely.

it’s “pales in comparison,” not “hails in comparison.”
