Wilson Staff Loses Release, Endorses McCain Anyway

Two days AFTER the South Carolina Republican Primary, Representative Joe Wilson (SC-02) is set to endorse his long time foe, John McCain, for President.

Apparently Wilson’s crack staff misplaced the release that should have gone out BEFORE his state voted.

Instead it seemed the former Bush supporter was sitting the “First in the South Primary” out. However, once the obvious mistake was uncovered; Wilson, known as a true Boy Scout, decided that an endorsement is an endorsement and plans to hold a press conference to encourage the people of South Carolina other states to support his new friend.

See, we love Joe here. We truly do. He has been a stalwart for conservative values. That’s how we know that this late endorsement was a mistake and that he is simply honoring his word. We just hope that others don’t try and spin this as the biggest pander thus far in the Republican race for President. After all, endorsing a guy after your state has voted wouldn’t actually be that much of a bold statement.

To wit: I wonder who Joe actually voted for on Saturday?

[UPDATED]  Just to be clear here people, we were joking about staff losing a release.  Apparently someone actually thinks that this was a good move.

From The Politico:

Rep. Joe Wilson to endorse McCain

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) will throw his support to John McCain tomorrow at a press conference in the South Carolina capitol, a source familiar with Wilson’s decision confirms. The move may seem odd given that the Palmetto State primary has already taken place. Naturally, Wilson could have been more of an asset had he gotten behind McCain before last Saturday. But on another level the timing makes perfect sense — and makes a statement about the softening of conservative opposition to McCain.Wilson, an establishment and loyal Republican if there ever was one, represents the suburban Columbia GOP bulwark of Lexington County.Lexington overwhelmingly went for George W. Bush when he ran against McCain in 2000. This time, though, McCain carried the county by a slightly higher margin than what he won statewide.Shrewd and responsive congressman that he is, Wilson took note of how his constituents voted.More than that, though, Wilson represents the plight of the GOP establishment this time around. He was initially sympathetic to George Allen, but then saw no candidate approaching this sort of mainstream conservatism after the Virginian flamed out. So he sat out his own primary. But now, recognizing the remaining options, he’s settling on McCain. Or maybe settling for McCain. Either way, it works for Team Mac.Wilson, I’m told, is likely to stump for McCain in some of the more conservative jurisdictions of Florida in the coming days.

Joe Wilson’s staff misplaced this??? Maybe that is what happened to me over there in his office too…. You see, Congressman Wilson and his staff also notify Social Security Disability recipients when Social Security looses all their personal information including identifying info like checking account information, psychiatric records, medical records…..Then he doesn’t make the government enforce the law called Hipaa or the Privacy Acf of 1975….
This release or lack of is no error just like that file loss was no error…..
wake up South Carolina…. sometimes Mr. Wilson doesn’t take care of his business or constituents.

”Psychiatric records” was the key to the last post.
