Who is Budd Dwyer?
Hoping that Governor Spitzer doesn’t pull a “Budd Dwyer.”
In just a few minutes, Governor Elliot Spitzer will hold a press conference where he is expecting to resign. We just hope he doesn’t pull a “Budd Dwyer.”
Who’s Budd Dwyer?
According to WIKI, Dwyer “was an American politician who, on the morning of January 22, 1987, committed suicide by shooting himself in the mouth with a revolver during a televised press conference.”
Dwyer got caught taking bribes as Treasurer of Penn. and during what was supposed to be his resignation press conference, he blew his brains out in front of a room full of reporters.

Have you ever heard the song “Hey man, nice shot” by Filter? Well, that song was about Dwyer.

Irony - his co-defendant at the time (Robert Asher) is now an RNC member known most recently for supporting the Rudy G. campaign.
I was a HS junior in PA at that time, and most of us had the day off as a snow day. When we got back, you simply wouldn’t believe the jokes that went around campus. Sick, but I remember them to this day.

Imagine what would happen if the new Governor tried to shoot himself, being blind and all that. He might just end up killing everyone else first.
