What happened to Tim Scott?
We’ve asked numerous Statehouse folks, including many legislators…what happened to Tim Scott today?
From the best we can gather, Scott was seen all over the lobby trying to get votes, but no one nominated him.
WHAT!?!? The Governor’s endorsement didn’t even so much as get a nomination?
We don’t know if that’s the case, but it’s looking true.

The plantation owner Sanford sent his token to the market without so much as an escort.
Where was the Sanford’s crew when Scott needed him?
Where was Sanford honor when he and his staff decided to slime Chellis?
Where was Sanford when he had the chance to truly use his bully pulpit to cause change?
Where is the media now that it is time for a TRUE examination of Sanfords record? (and not just replying on Sanfords numbers and spin)

Mr. Scott was a disposable Negro.
Mr. Sanford desired a token so as to show the “softer side of Sanford”, and Mr. Scott was foolish enough to believe that the governor was sincere.
In the end Mr. Scott discovered plantation owners don’t need regular people for very long. In fact, just long enough to issue press releases and have a press conference.

Sanford has more African Americans in his cabinet than ANY previous SC governor and had an African-American Chief of Staff who he made Director of the Budget and Control Board - arguably the highest appointed position in state government. He has also helped lead the call for more African-American judges. With that kind of record, questioning his commitment to diversity seems idiotic as he’s walked the talk.
You also seem to forget that Sanford was the one pushing for Scott - it’s the legislators who refused to even nominate someone outside their good ole boys club in their haste to elect yet another white male who was campaigning on a promise to fire Henry White - the highest ranking African American in SC government since reconstruction. At least White resigned yesterday before they got the satisfaction of firing him.
The constitution of 1895 was intended to keep blacks out of the SC political process. Sanford had already broken one racial glass ceiling with the Board and was pushing to break another one. But then the good ole boys in the legislature got to weigh in curtousy of that same constitution, which continues to fulfill its purpose 112 years later. It’s time to get new faces in the legislature so we can move forward from our 19th century existence.

Golly, this last post was so on message. Is this Mark? Jenny?
I don’t know if your statements are true or not…all I know is that Mark Sanford dumped Scott into the street like yesterday’s garbage.
It was not a good day for Sanford, SC, or blacks.

Has anyday been good for any South Carolina resident lately or is it just me? The Governor refuses to help me with a tremendous problem that will ultimately embarrass our state ( more). Obviously Mr. Sanford should recognize that all citizens count and all humans deserve and require respect…..
that being said……. yesssssir

Sanford should resign

Why should Sanford resign?

Why not?
It is good for biddness. He should take one for the team…and let the politics make a few extra bucks. Special elections are the best$$.

Actually Sanford should just come out and admit that if you can’t beat em, join em and then start funnelling taxpayer dollars back to the “needy” people of Sullivans Island - about time that got his shot at the trough where the legislative piggies line up. Maybe he could get a nice dock built at his house courtesy of the taxpayer’s or money to have the bridge to Sullivans or a building named after him.
Or maybe he could continue to be one of the few people with a big picture perspective who are actually looking out for the average taxpayer rather than familes and cronies like our legislators mostly are. The main reason Chellis wanted the job was to boost his pay for the 3 years required to get a big fat taxpayer funded retirement. If we keep electing these losers rather than intelligent public-minded folks to work with Sanford then we deserve to stay 49th - 50th in everything.
