Tuesday’s First Round

It’s Tuesday.

We are super-pumped because there’s only two more days until Mitt Romney gives his Mormon speech. Everyone’s talking about it. And it seems that Mitt is writing the speech himself.
WHAT!?!? Mitt Romney’s Mormon? Yes, you haven’t been getting the anonymous push polls and emails over the last few months?

Speaking of anonymous push polls, Mike Huckabee could find himself in a little trouble after it was uncovered yesterday that members of his team have started a 3rd party group to help in Iowa. The group is engaging in direct campaign activities, such as push polling, which the group’s director calls “personalized educational artificial intelligence.” That’s cute. Some of those activities may be against the law.

Huckabee has disavowed the calls. What else could he do?

We here at The Shot know what you guys are thinking. We have been concentrating a lot on Mike Huckabee in the last week. You’re right. We have. It’s because we can’t turn on CNN, Fox News, or MSNBC for 30 seconds without hearing the Huckabee love-fest. We’ve heard him speak about 50 times and think he’s a pretty good guy, but figured that there has to be something wrong. So we started checking out this record and learned that he’s got some real baggage on fiscal and immigration policies. And although he seems squeaky clean, he’s had some major ethics issues chasing him for a few years. Why would you register for wedding gifts 30 years after your wedding? Any why would you be talking to a Bill Clinton advisor caught up in sex scandals.

Anyway, we weren’t real surprised to see that the Iowa group is connected to Huckabee.

Also interesting on the Huckabee front, God is responsible for his jump in the polls. When asked by a student why Huck is climbing Rev. Jonathan Falwell said “There’s only one explanation for it and it’s not a human one. It’s the same power that felt that … two fish and five loaves could feed a crowd of 5,000 people. … There literally are thousands of people across this country who are praying that little would become much and it has.”

Hmm…

Here in SC, a new poll as Rudy up front, Mitt in second, and Huck in third. Huck is climbing fast.

Rudy Giuliani is still getting hit with the taxpayer extramarital affair scandal as he continues campaigning around the country. The AP says “Secrecy Issues Dog Giuliani, Clinton.”

If you haven’t seen this video yet, watch it now. It’s freakin’ funny. PS 9-11, 9-11, 9-11.

Yesterday Rudy came out against the Fair Tax plan, which we all remember from the DeMint/Tenenbaum race is a plan to raise your sales taxes on everything by 23%.

Fred Thompson is campaigning in SC today.

Tickets to see Oprah and Obama are GONE!

Things are getting nasty as both Obama and Hillary turn up the heat.

Ron Paul is continuing to shock the world as his online fundraising efforts are going nuts.

In SC…

One of the more interesting stories comes out of Charleston, where the press secretary for Solicitor Scarlett Wilson has been caught blogging anonymously on the Post and Courier’s website. What’s the big deal? He’s been leaking internal information, bashing victims, and criticizing Wilson’s political opponent.

Education Chief Jim Rex is on the stump rounding up support for his education agenda.

Have a great day!
