Thursday’s First Round

Today’s the day. Mitt Romney gives his big Mormon speech in about 2 hours. It really sucks for Team Romney and couldn’t come at a worst time. While the Mike Huckabee team is imploding because of the Wayne Dumond story, every news outlet over the past 24 hours has concentrated on ripping Huck apart. Unfortunately for Romney, attention will be taken off the Dumond story for at least today, and all eyes will be on Texas where Romney is giving his speech.

As far as analysis goes, many “experts” are saying different things. It’s a good idea. It’s a bad idea. Everyone has advice to give. There are too many of those type stories to bring you here, so just google ‘Mitt Romney’ and you’ll find them.

By the way, you can watch the speech live at 10:30 right here on The Shot. Props to Team Romney for using this cool embeddable widget.

Ok, what else?

Obama had to move his Oprah event to Billy Brice because so many people wanted to attend.

Fred Thompson was in SC yesterday where he talked defense, spending, and Iran. He also got the SC Right to Life endorsement. Oh, and CNN learned that he doesn’t have a hunting license.

In state news, The State has learned that immigration will be a top issue this year. Really? We hadn’t heard that.

Jim Rex has come up with another school choice plan, but as you know, its not really a school choice plan. Only Republicans can have real school choice plans…and by Republicans we mean only those 100% in line with the Governor on everything.

Representative Nathan Ballentine wrote a good blog post on state spending, so check it out.

Have a great day!
