This position being that the federal governemnt should not have usurped the power to criminalize abortion and in fact should have no jurisdiction over abortion. Abortion laws are a states right and it is up to each state to legislate and promulgate the regulations pertaining to abortion. Thompson admits that he was pro first trimester abortion until he observed one of his latest children in his wifes womb. Since then he has had a change of heart and readily admits it.
