Something Different.

Over the next couple days we are experimenting with Twitter. Shotpolitics.com will automatically reroute to www.twitter.com/shotpolitics.

Many of you are asking “what’s twitter?” Let us answer.

Twitter is a SMS (short message service) and micro-blogging site. It answers the question “what are you doing?” in 140 characters.

So, why are we doing this?

As you already know, we folks that run The Shot are full time political operatives. What sucks about that is simple – when we have lots of time to write long posts and update the site throughout the day, there is usually nothing to really talk about. When South Carolina politics is booming, we can’t find 30 seconds to throw up an original thought on the blog. We can barely keep the news fresh every morning.

So we admit – lately our little site has sucked BIG TIME. Those other sites that have all the time in the world to update, place BS fliers on legislators desks, create false documents from TV stations, follow stars around town, and keep up on all the latest celebrity gossip are kicking our butts. Editor’s note: don’t get too excited Governor’s Spokesman. Instead of spending all day jacking Tyler Durden’s thoughts you may want to spend a little time on this site. Unless of course your Beaufort friend is still hooking you up.

Anyway, enough of that.

That brings us back to Twitter. For the next few days we are going to try to keep you up-to-date on all the latest SC political news through Twitter. We are going to post all the morning news every day as “tweets.” We will continue to send out our morning email. As new stories pop up throughout the day we will post them. And when we hear some sweet news or gossip around town, we will update you immediately through our blackberries…the other really cool thing about Twitter. If we need to post something longer, the link we appear on Twitter but you will be redirected to this site.

At the end of the week we will take away the redirect, go back to our normal site and ask you how you liked it. If you thought it sucked, it’s done. If you thought it rocked, we may consider moving permanently to Twitter.

Enjoy the week.

I like it better than what you had before. It’s easier for me to access the articles.
