Sanford Endorsing Bright

Despite promising not to.

We have learned that the Governor has placed a phone call to Scott Talley telling Talley that he will be endorsing Lee Bright today at 11:00 am.

On the call, Talley asked why considering the fact that the Governor has named him a “Taxpayer Hero” and called him one of three “fiscally conservative allies in the House.” Governor Sanford told Talley that he was getting a lot of pressure from Club for Growth President Chad Waldorf to intervene on Bright’s behalf. Sanford told Talley that “my gut is telling me to stay out of this race” but despite Talley’s loyalty in the House, Chad Waldorf is a “good friend” and he feels like he “owes it to Chad.”

Sanford earlier promised Talley that he would not be getting involved in the race.

Yes folks. That’s how business is done in state government. Whatever the special interests want, the special interests get.
