Romney Wins Nevada
Fox News is now declaring Mitt Romney the winner of the Nevada GOP Presidential Caucus. After winning Michigan this is the second state in a row that the Romney campaign has won. Nevada has 34 delegates to the RNC Convention compared to South Carolina’s 24.
Regardless of what happens here in South Carolina, Mitt Romney will be the delegate leader heading into the crucial primary contest in Florida on January 29th.

nevada assigns delegates based on the number of votes a candidate receives. if huckabee wins sc outright he will then be the delegate leader because he will pick up delegates in nevada as well. in other words it is not a given that romney will be the delegate leader.

Huckabee is so far behind Romney in delegates, that he would have to have a landslide in SC and come in a tight 2nd in Nevada to catch up. Neither will happen. The race in SC is tight, time will tell… (CNN.com has good coverage of the results)

Huckabee is too far back in Neveda to secure the necessary number of delegates to surpass Romney at this point.

Also South Carolina assigns at least 6 of its delegates by Congressional District, so Huckabee might only be able to capture 19-20 delegates even if he wins.
