Monday’s First Round
Hello and good Monday morning. Aren’t you pumped about getting your work week started?
If not, look on the bright side. At least the Gamecocks didn’t lose a football game this weekend. You don’t have to worry about them losing a bowl game either.
First off, we have a new email address, so write it down - news@shotpolitics.com. And as you can see there are a few changes to The Shot and the way we are doing things now.
Now for politics.
You know the good thing about being an underdog? You don’t get attacked much and your record isn’t really scrutinized. Just ask Mike Huckabee. As he continues his climb in the polls, especially in Iowa as this ABC Poll indicates, he continues to get hit on his record as Governor of Arkansas.
The Club for Growth is hitting him pretty hard for what they call his tax-and-spend record.
The Arkansas Leader says he raised more taxes than Bill Clinton.
Immigration groups are slapping him around for his support of various illegal immigrant benefits.
And even his ethics are being called into question.
What should he do about it? Maybe he should just ask God. They don’t just talk in prayer. They talk on Huckabee’s cell phone too. Seriously, here’s one of Huck’s responses.
But as he battles Mitt Romney for the lead in Iowa, Romney has decided to make a John F. Kennedy-esque speech to address his Mormon problem.
The NY Times is hitting Fred Thompson again for being lazy.
Ron Paul is continuing his freakish, yet really cool surge. He’s saying he will raise $12 million in the 4th quarter. WHAT!?!?
Giuliani is still getting hit for his taxpayer funded extramarital affair.
The Union Leader endorsed John McCain this weekend.
As for the Dems, polls show Obama pulling ahead in Iowa. Obviously folks are still talking about the Clinton hostage crisis and some are pointing to Hillary’s cool-headedness (is that a word?) in during the situation.
Lee Bandy wrote this piece in The State’s Sunday edition writing “Clinton nomination not a sure thing.” We would like to take this time to say how much we miss Aaron Sheinen. We got on the web this morning to check out all of South Carolina’s political stories and they were seriously lacking. Actually, there wasn’t crap! What’s going on here? Is everyone on vacation?
The Free Times has a pretty good article on the South Carolina Democratic Party that you should check out.
And lastly, 8 more men say they had sexual encounters with Senator Larry Craig.
That’s about it. Have a wonderful Monday and check back throughout the day for the latest political updates.
