Meilinger will run for Vaughn’s Seat

Already?

It only took about 5 minutes after Senator Lewis Vaughn announced that he would not seek re-election for Mike Meilinger to announce his candidacy for the seat. Meilinger is the guy who narrowly lost to Vaughn in the run-off. Here’s his release:

“For the last few months I’ve been seriously considering running again.” Meilinger said. “Upon hearing of Senator Vaughn’s retirement, I wanted to make my intentions clear. I plan to seek election in the Republican Primary for the State Senate District 5 seat, and will run an aggressive campaign based on state government spending restraint, and fighting excessive taxes, governmental regulations and fees. I will also make a priority of my campaign, and in office to take all steps state government can in fighting illegal immigration.”

Meilinger went on to say “I want to represent the people of the 5th District.  I want them to know that I will work hard, and that I will be available and accessible to listen to their concerns about state government.”

A long time upstate resident and father of five, Mike Meilinger is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, and a Certified Financial Planner.  He recently sold his CPA Practice and currently owns a consulting company that focuses exclusively on forensic accounting, business valuations and expert witness services. He plans to use his financial expertise in combating the growing government spending and waste.
