The campaign for Senate Seat 13 shows how deep the Spartanburg County bench really is. Although Jim Ritchie was targeted by trial lawyers determined to punish him for the much needed tort reform bill he pushed through the Senate, his replacement is unlikely to be a tool of any interest group, trial lawyers included.

The campaigns run by Kerry Wood and Nicole Cobb, unseating two giants in the Spartanburg delegation, were truely awesome campaigns. Not only is there elective talent in this county, but there is also the kind of talent candidates need to turn "wanna-bes" into elected officials.

I'd say Kerry did well. I liked the guy when he ran.

Not everyone is cut out to run for office, but not everyone has to serve in elected offices to make a difference.

Maybe he's found a new way to make a difference.

Way to go Kerry!
