Introducing Shot Shots
With all these national folks coming down South, we want to give them a heads up on what to expect in Columbia and the great state of South Carolina. So here’s our newest addition - Shot Shots! Just some random shots we take while driving around.
We don’t know what this is, but we are in like Quinn.

While y’all may be able to get a higher price on an ad right next to the word “comments,” I think it’s in poor taste. I know people need to make money, but there are ways to advertise tastefully (sidebars, etc.).

Yeah, seriously. I feel as if I’m starting to see more advertising than news. I prefer to read my news on sites that exude taste and class, which is why I read my news here. When I saw that centered ad, I thought, “This is not classy. It’s cheap, whorish, and disrespectful to the readership.”
For some reason, a more discreet advertisement on the sidebar or on the very top or bottom of the page does not make me feel that way.
BOO CENTERED ADS! HOORAAAAY BLOG!

Hear, Hear. On both counts…
I put mine up on the sidebar to be the least intrusive. Of course, that means I get very few clicks (and not much revenue), but I didn’t do the blog so I could get per-click advertising dollars, and I suspect you didn’t either. (Scoop, on the other hand, might have, based on the ads I’ve been clicking through over there the last week or two…)

Come on guys. It’s not like its some massive, intrusive image. Its pretty darn small.
Josh - you are right. We didn’t start this site to make cash, but it has really grown and that’s cost us some doe. We just want to have fun and have the site pay itself. You know??
Maybe we should all call the Ultimate Fighters number and duke it out there. Who’s with me? =)

It may be small, but I still find it disrespectful. Maybe I should start reading my news on Josh’s website. Every week someone asks me if I saw something and I say no and they ask, “Don’t you read SC Hotline?!” I say, “No, I read The Shot.” I’m serious, if that ad doesn’t come down, I’m out.
