Graham’s loss makes DeMint a hero
Listen, we like Senator Lindsey Graham and we’ve always been very kind to him on our site. Senator Graham votes with his heart and works tirelessly for South Carolina. His back story is impressive – a young boy who came from nothing becomes a United States Senator. Only a good man and a hard worker could accomplish the things Senator Graham has accomplished. And sometimes to his detriment, Senator Graham votes for what he thinks is right…and what we think is wrong.
Senator Graham worked hard for the immigration bill and his good friend John McCain. Luckily for us, Graham couldn’t pull it off and John McCain lost his dangerous game of presidential Russian roulette…a shot his campaign won’t survive.
While Graham watches his friend’s campaign die he must come back home to rebuild his own popularity. His biggest problem…he must now do so in the shadows of the Republican Party’s new hero – Senator Jim DeMint.
A consistent conservative, Jim DeMint has become an outspoken leader on the Hill. He made national news earlier this year for leading a movement to put sunshine on the earmarking process. Fighting projects like the Alaskan Bridge to Nowhere catapulted DeMint to the chairmanship of the Senate Steering Committee where he now leads the creation of conservative policy in the Senate.
Today South Carolina should be proud that we have two United States Senators who fight for what they believe in. Although they may be on opposing sides, our two Senators do what they think is right for South Carolina and the United States of America.
Unfortunately for Graham, his loss has made DeMint a hero and he will be ridiculed by many while watching his colleague glorified. But that doesn’t mean we should give up on Graham just yet. Graham went after Bill Clinton hard…and it made us proud. We are certain he will make us proud again. Until then, we thank God for Jim DeMint’s conservative leadership in the fight against this horrible amnesty bill.
Senator DeMint – you done good sir.

I think you still give Senator Grahamnesty too much credit, as you have tended to do in the past. If anyone is standing up for what he believes in, it is Senator DeMint. It appears that Senator Grahamnesty has become part of Washington and he is siding with the monied interest, not on principle.

Beauregard - thanks for your comments. We agree, DeMint deserves credit for standing up for what he believes in. We like our Senate duo because of their differences. Both of them work extremely hard and are very outspoken for what they believe in. We would rather have a Senator who occassionally works hard for the wrong thing than a Senator who doesn’t work hard at all.

The shot is right, both our Senators fought honorably for what they believe. Senator DeMint’s side won here. So what does that mean? It means the immigration problem is going to get much much much worse. Because of DeMint and talk radio, immigration is now taboo for politians. New legislation for immigration will not be brought back up until the second term of the next President, likely the year 2015. So eight years from now we probably will have about 50 MILLION illegals in the USA. The sad part is that Senator Graham’s reform bill would have secured the border and fixed the problem. Call Jim DeMint and ask him to push some border security legislation through the Senate and get all Republicans plus ELEVEN Democrats to vote in favor of his ideas. GOOD LUCK.
So everytime you think you see an illegal between now and 2015 call Senator DeMint and thank him for bringing a halt to the only legislation that would have solved this problem.
Maybe then, you will think that Senator Graham was trying to realistically solve the problem, that just maybe he wasn’t “Senator Grahamnsty siding with money.”
So when your car gets rear-ended sometime between now and 2015 by a truck load of illegals and they don’t have insurance, just say to yourself “Thank you Senator DeMint!!!!!!”

I think your BS is evident the way you have had a picture of Graham and Chuck Schumer on your site for two days. That’s the biggest insult I think anyone could give a person. You obviously have little respect for the guy to display him in such a manner - and many South Carolinians share your point of view - so there’s no need to hide behind empty compliments. Just be honest!

… and Carolinaconservative, immigration is not taboo for politicians. As we have seen by Senator DeMint’s example, politicians who advocate what we need - legislation that emphasizes border security - are guaranteed to be quite popular with an American public who overwhelmingly feels the same way. The issue is far from taboo for those who want a real solution.

Beauregard - we always appreciate your comments, but as a frequent reader, you should know by now that we don’t update on Saturdays, which is why the picture of Graham and Schumer has been up for 2 days. This is a hobby for us, not a job. Even we need to get away from politics one day a week.
Don’t worry…that pic will be changed here shortly.

Regardless, if I put a picture up on the internet of someone with Chuck Schumer for even five minutes, it would be a sure sign that I don’t have a very high estimation of that person. It’s a wonderful photo, though, and I’m sure it will get more exposure elsewhere if not here. The photographer should be rewarded handsomely.
