Former McCain County Chairman David Nix Speaks. And our opinion.
Former McCain Aiken County Chairman David Nix has been making some news lately for bolting the McCain campaign because of his immigration stance. In this clip, David Nix speaks on a Arizona radio station about why he left the McCain campaign. He also hits Lindsey Graham pretty hard.
Now, I know we are always pretty harsh on John McCain and his campaign. We are particularly harsh on the “amnesty bill.” So…its going to surprise you when we say - the media should really lay off this David Nix story. They are blowing it WAY out of proportion.
This guy is an activist in Aiken County SC. It’s not like he is McCain’s campaign manager, a top advisor, or one of the nation’s biggest donors. Sure you could argue that Nix represents “the people,” but he should hardly become the icon of a failing campaign.
Do we believe the McCain campaign is falling apart? Yes, we do. This immigration stink is going to hurt, big time. Put that on top of dropping in Iowa and New Hampshire polls while raising little cash and it becomes obvious that the McCain camp is hurting. But should David Nix be touted as some grand example around the country? Absolutely not.
Here’s the clip:

I guess if Nix had switched to your side, the RINO side that is, me thinks your opinion would be different. Why don’t you report Terry Sullivan calling Nix withing hours of the release hitting the wire and begging him to sign up with your Yankee RINO interloper.

Do I sense a little jealousy of a local activist who makes the news over standing up for principles? Come on, guys. The implosion of the McCain campaign was bound to happen. I am just the first of many McCain campaign “names” to leave. I pity those who go down with the McCain ship…

David - no jealousy here. We think you did a noble thing. Its no secret that we disagree with McCain and his amnesty bill. We just think its been a little overstated.

Sorry - that was from us here at The Shot. Still trying to fix that bug.

Shot, I understand. I just thought it was funny that you were interested enough in little ol’ me to post an editorial. Thanks for the continuing media coverage. I’m now up to 10 Google pages when you search for: “David Nix” & McCain. Thanks for increasing my exposure.
Is it true that Fred Thompson is a member of that North American Unionist group the Council on Foreign Relations? Where does Mitt and Rudy stand on that count?

Yes, David, Fred Thompson is a CFR member: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Thompson.
Not only that, but
1. He has deliberately waited to enter the race so as to miss important public debates.
2. He supported John McCain’s candidacy in 2000.
3. He argued for the McCain-Feingold legislation that regulates the content, timing and amount of political speech (amounting to a trampling of our right to free speech, as protected by the Constitution).

In other words, Fred Thompson is no different from John McCain on some of the major issues. Should he become President, his involvement with the CFR will guarantee a continuing erosion of the sovereignty of the USA.
You would do well to support a true Constitutionalist: Ron Paul.
