E-Day Rundown

Unless you live in Aiken or Beaufort, you probably don’t realize its Election Day, but two important seats are up for grabs today.
First there’s the Republican Primary to replace Catherine Ceips in Beaufort based House disrict 124. It’s been quite the slimy race down there as Randy Bates’ campaign has thrown out accusation after accusation of being attacked while his opponent Shannon Erickson claims that her campaign has had nothing to do with it. Many believe that Bates’ campaign is actually throwing out scattered attacks just so they can blame Erickson for being negative. Conspiracy theory? Who knows.
Our prediction – Erickson by a hair.
Now for the 6 way Republican primary special election to replace Tommy Moore in the Aiken, Edgefield, McCormick, Saluda Senate District 25.
Most say that Bill Hixon is the clear frontrunner for one reason only – money. He’s thrown a lot of personal money into the race and the SC Realtors Association has also dumped thousands. Hixon is the only candidate on TV and radio. However, most believe that Hixon is a Democrat and he’s being called out by SCRG and numerous blogs including Kaolin Kronicle and the website Edgefielddaily.com for helping run “Republicans for Tommy Moore.”
Chris Corley is a fulltime law student and sources close to his campaign say his parents have dumped a lot of money into the campaign for mail. He’s working hard, but not as hard as Shane Massey who is seen as the “Andre Bauer without the drama” in this race.
Bernie Hamby, Jack Montgomery, and Susan Swanson are also running, but Hixon, Corley, and Massey are viewed as the top three.
Our prediction - This race is going to a run-off but we have no clue who will be in it.

We’re down to Massey and Hixon. Republican vs RINO-Democrat. Too bad I can’t vote in Senate 25, or Shane would have my vote. I’ve had enough of RINO’s in Aiken County.
