Consultant Roundup

Who’s fighting who?
Today we start a new segment called “Consultant Roundup.” With all the hot legislative races, 3rd party groups, and consultant divides, 2008 promises to get even more excited.
So what’s up?
Mark Willis: the guy who challenged Representative Adam Taylor last year and was well funded by SCRG is back. We have heard that Robert Cahaly is running his campaign again.
Kevin Hardee: as far as we know Hardee is the only announced Republican for Billy Witherspoons seat. Starboard is running his race.
Rita Allison: looks like Allison has dumped the Quinns and has moved on to Starboard for her challenge to Representative Joe Mahaffey in the GOP primary.
Joe Mahaffey: we don’t know who is running his re-election campaign.
Blair Jennings: Jennings is challenging Lowcountry Solicitor Scarlett Wilson in the GOP primary. First Tuesday Strategies is running his campaign.
Scarlett Wilson: Solicitor Wilson’s campaign is being run by Sanford aide Chris Drummond.
Max Hyde: Hyde is a well-funded candidate challenging Senator Jim Ritchie. Rumor on the street is that he paid Tim Brett $30k to run his campaign. Dang!
Jim Ritchie: no word yet on who is running Ritchie’s re-election campaign. It now appears that Starboard Communications is running Ritchie’s race.
Shane Martin: the 3rd guy in the Ritchie race, we have no clue who is running his race. Do you?
Luke Rankin: we are sure Rankin will be sticking with his consultant Rod Shealy.
Greg Killian: rumor is that Starboard is running this SCRG backed candidate against Rankin. But we just found out that is NOT the case. Starbaord isn’t running the race. We’ll let you know when we find out.
Robert Rabon: Horry County GOP Chairman Robert Rabon will be challenging Senator Dick Elliot and Starboard will be running his campaign.
Dick Elliot: Senator Elliot is one of Rod Shealy’s Democratic clients. They will probably be together again this year.
Sheri Few: Few is running again to replace Representative Bill Cotty. She used Starboard last time she got beat. No clue if they are running her campaign again. Rumor is that numerous folks are trying to recruit another candidate because they know Few cant beat Anton Gunn in the General.
Scott Talley: Representative Scott Talley is running to replace Senator John Hawkins. First Tuesday is running his campaign.
Lee Bright: Bright, who came close to defeating Hawkins in ’04, is running again. His campaign is being run by Chris Sullivan.
Mike Forrester: Forrester is running for Talley’s House seat. First Tuesday is running his campaign. No word yet on a challenger.
Chip Stockman: Stockman is running for the Senate seat being vacated by Senator John Drummond. His campaign is being run by Starboard.
Dee Compton: Compton is running against Stockman in the primary. No word on who is running his campaign.
Tim Scott: Representative Dantzler isn’t running again and rumor for weeks has been that Scott is jumping in. No word yet on who is running his campaign.
And one Congressional race:
Henry Brown: Congressman Henry Brown is being challenged in the general election. His campaign is being run by Rod Shealy.

Remember how Tim Scott was named as a possible candidate for Dantzler’s seat on the hit list? Guess we know where his funding will come from.
