As much as I respect Mr. Harrell and could support him for governor I believe that Congressman Gresham Barrett of the Third District would be a great governor and could create unity in the state. Not only does he understand the role of government, he understands the needs people have throughout the state and furthermore he knows how to get them the help they need. He understands business and how to get businesses to relocate to our state and build expansion plants within our borders. We desperately need industrial investments and job creation in our state, especially in the poorest counties from the Midlands to the PeeDee regions.
South Carolina has, during the past few years, failed to invest in the infrastructure of our great state. Business leaders want to see how a state can support their business once it locates into South Carolina. We must spend money to make money. Our current governor simply refuses to accept this principle. I hope the next governor will work to find businesses willing to come to our state and work to meet their requirements for coming here. We need jobs to create an environment of stability. South Carolina is on the edge of becoming a booming state. With a little push we can get there.

The campaign for Senate Seat 13 shows how deep the Spartanburg County bench really is. Although Jim Ritchie was targeted by trial lawyers determined to punish him for the much needed tort reform bill he pushed through the Senate, his replacement is unlikely to be a tool of any interest group, trial lawyers included.

The campaigns run by Kerry Wood and Nicole Cobb, unseating two giants in the Spartanburg delegation, were truely awesome campaigns. Not only is there elective talent in this county, but there is also the kind of talent candidates need to turn "wanna-bes" into elected officials.

I'd say Kerry did well. I liked the guy when he ran.

Not everyone is cut out to run for office, but not everyone has to serve in elected offices to make a difference.

Maybe he's found a new way to make a difference.

Way to go Kerry!

High fives for the expose.

The Lorax guy is pretty funny - I didn't know that Warren hired a poet laureate. Certainly rounds out the team.

Scott Talley is a small businessman like Jake Knotts has a moral compass.

I am the Lorax, I'm down on my knees
Slurping up loads of Chad Walldorf's disease

Spitting it out all over the state
Endorsing "each 'n' Averyt" Club For Growth candy-date

From Fifth Avenue, N.Y. they watch me destroy
every bit of state gov'mint like a good puppet boy

Espousing the true Libertarian way, running rough-shod over the poor, the old, and the blacks every day

So help me on Tuesday by voting for Bright

Mr. Rich and his friends paid for his seat fair and right

And I can't let them down or my wife'll have my balls

But she's too busy hanging posters of Grover Norquist on our walls

I was once a little-known Congressman from S.C.

But now look at what politics has done to me

Lying to everyone for my New York paymaster

But it's what I gotta do to get that U.S. Senate seat faster.
