Obama on SNL. Bill Clinton tries the Mystery Method.

Sunday, November 4th, 2007

Obama made a guest appearance on SNL last night, which was pretty cool. But the best part of this skit is that Bill Clinton is dressed up as Mystery. Who? Well, if you are a guy and you don’t know, you better figure it out. Or you can just click here.

Democrat Shenanigans

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

I’m not a lawyer, but I do have a basic understanding of what’s legal and illegal. And I’m pretty sure the coordinated use of campaign funds and staff between various state and federal races is considered to be an illegal campaign contribution. The AP reported today that there will likely be a heavy amount of coordination between the Bill Clyburn and Democratic Presidential Candidates.

Earlier this year 50 volunteers showed up to help John West in his bid for the State Senate. The question is did they really just show up, or did paid campaign staffers use campaign offices to organize the volunteer effort on phones paid for by the campaign committees? Did the volunteers receive transportation paid for by these campaigns? Did the campaigns pay these “volunteers”?

Let’s be honest, 50 people just don’t just show up on their own. What do you think?

Biden Supports Billy Wilkins for AG

Hillary Clinton up in Iowa

Monday, August 13th, 2007

According to Marc Ambinder, Hillary Clinton is now on TV in Iowa, and is the last major candidate to advertise.

Clinton says in the ad:

“As I travel around America, I hear from so many people who feel like they are invisible to their government,” Clinton says in the ad. “If you have a family that’s struggling… you are invisible to this president…You’re not invisible to me….You won’t be invisible to the next president of the United States.”

Chalk this up as the 5th election where Democrats have run against George W. Bush. I like to vote for a candidate for what they stand on. I want a candidate who presents optimism and makes me want to vote for them, and not against someone else(who isn’t even in the race.) There is a difference in saying “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” than saying that the current president is “invisible.” I guess President Bush couldn’t see the people who are “struggling” because he was too busy blowing up the World Trade Towers, blowing up the New Orleans Levees, and blowing up the Minnesota Bridge.

Democrats: run on your beliefs–it seems to work better for you.

Through the looking glass: Democratic war politics

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

Over the last few days Americans have been treated to an open window into the internal forces at work behind the Democrats strategy for the War in Iraq. And what we are seeing is not good. Not for foreign policy, not for our military, and if this trend continues; not for Democrats running in ‘08.

For example; Congressman Jim Clyburn of South Carolina discussed the potential for a positive outlook in Iraq during an interview with the Washington Post. A key portion of the article read:

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) said Monday that a strongly positive report on progress on Iraq by Army Gen. David Petraeus likely would split Democrats in the House and impede his party’s efforts to press for a timetable to end the war.

First of all, anyone who knows about Congressman Clyburn can agree that, like him or not, the man speaks plainly. He is a tough veteran politician who doesn’t often mince words. So, the first thing we can take from this is that he is giving an honest political assessment of what will happen if the War in Iraq is actually taking a positive turn. However, given the recent NY Times Op-ED entitled, “A War we just might win”, (written by two well known critics of the War) and the subsequent melt-down from the liberal blogosphere; one could infer that Clyburn’s comments provide a deeper look into the strategy of the Democrats in Congress and the 08′ers.

Clyburn’s comments are telling in that they represent a Party who has banked their electoral hopes on a complete failure in Iraq and that they have cast their chips in on the side of defeat despite the costs in human lives, Middle East destabilization, and the emboldening of future terrorists. It was a strategy that has been both despicable and successful for the last two years. Now, with the prospect of good news on the horizon, the Democrats are going nuts. They cannot stand the thought that we may be able to come to a tolerable victory in Iraq and that the troop surge may have an effect. They now face having their play book exposed and summarily rejected by normal Americans and they know it.

To add to the hypothesis, an article came out in Real Clear Politics today citing a circus show put on by a Democrat Member of the House Committee on Armed Services during testimony by the former Vice Chief of Staff to the Army. What egregious things did this General have to say? And what was the reason for the melt-down?

“What you see is a stark contrast. All the schools are open. The markets are teeming with people…There is an attempt to provide essential services to the population where in ‘06 there were none, said General Keane.”

“Those kinds of comments will in fact show up in the media and further divide this country instead of saying, here’s the reality of the problem,” Rep. Boyda said. “And people, we have to come together and deal with the reality of this issue.”

So good news from Iraq caused poor Congresswoman Boyda to storm out of a hearing? The article goes on:

It is difficult to say which is the more remarkable: that Ms. Boyda, whose military experience is zero, imagines she knows “the reality of this issue” better than does Gen. Keane; or that she is appalled by good news from Iraq.

With Democrats nervously twitching and resorting to theatrics, attacking their own (as in the reaction to the NY Times Op-ED), and publicly calling for a wait and see approach on their surrender plans; one has to wonder if they really hope for defeat for America? Shouldn’t they be banging down the Pentagon’s doors trying to figure out how best to keep this momentum going?

If things really are taking a turn in Iraq, and the Democrats stay invested in defeat, this could result in a major shift in the political landscape over the next few months coming into the January Primaries.

One cadet ain’t happy

We received the following op-ed from Citadel cadet W Stovall Witte III who writes about today’s Democratic debate held on the Citadel campus.

Whom Do You Think You’re Fooling?
By: W Stovall Witte III

Democrats seeking nomination for the 2008 Presidential election must think the American people are pretty gullible.  How else can one explain the location and the format they’ve chosen for their next national debate?
