Barack’s Bi-Partisan B-Ball Session with Bush-Cheney Staffer

This past Saturday, Barack Obama made an unscheduled stop during the day of the South Carolina Primary at the Columbia YMCA. He wasn’t there to try to pick up more votes, but rather to just play a few games of basketball.
Jonathan Yarborough, a former Bush 2000 campaign staffer who went on to work at the White House and manage Gresham Barrett’s Congressional campaign, was at the YMCA working out when he noticed Obama playing a game of three-on-three. Curious to see how well the presidential contender played ball, Yarborough went to the other end of the court to just to shoot around and watch. That’s when Barack said in his deep voice, “I want to play some five-on-five.”
Obama then pointed to Yarborough and asked “Do you want to play?”

I screwed her husband so I owe her one

Just when I thought this week couldn’t get any stranger, you know…after Captain Perfect Mike Huckabee began imploding after the Wayne Dumond crisis. Now we learn that Gennifer Flowers may vote for Hillary. After all, that’s the least she could do after sleeping with her husband for 12 years.
Here’s the AP story:
Gennifer Flowers may vote for Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden
By KATHLEEN HENNESSEY Associated Press Writer
LAS VEGAS (AP) _ The one-time other woman in Hillary Rodham Clinton’s life says she’s considering casting her vote for the former first lady.”I can’t help but want to support my own gender, and she’s as experienced as any of the others _ except maybe Joe Biden,” Gennifer Flowers said in a recent telephone interview from her home in Las Vegas.
Flowers said she is still undecided, supports abortion rights and has long wanted to see a woman in the White House.
”I would love to see a woman president, I just didn’t think it would be her,” Flowers said.
In the 1992 presidential race, the former television reporter claimed to have had a 12-year affair with then-candidate and Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton. Clinton initially denied the allegation, but later, during his deposition in the Paula Jones sexual harassment case, acknowledged a single sexual encounter with Flowers.
Today the media frenzy, the book tour and the Penthouse shoot is behind her. The defamation suit she once filed against Hillary Clinton was dismissed. The 57-year-old lounge singer says she plans to stay far away from presidential politics.
”I don’t have any interest whatsoever in getting back out there and bashing Hillary Clinton,” Flowers said.
That’s not to say she isn’t watching the race closely. Democratic Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware, she said, is ‘’smart, sexy and experienced.” She liked Clinton’s response to a question about immigration at a recent debate in Las Vegas (”I like the way she was so definite about it, the others are trying to play to the middle.”)
MittRomney is also on the short list, though in general ”the GOP has yet to start impressing me,” said Flowers, a registered nonpartisan who has recently voted Republican.
Flowers moved to Las Vegas about a year ago, after years of singing at a cabaret club in New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina wrecked her home and her marriage, she said. Sin City offered her a chance to perform in Bottom’s Up, a variety show at a casino in downtown Las Vegas.
She’s now looking for other performing opportunities, involved in a plastic surgery reality series and has begun writing an advice column for a community Web site.
Hillary Clinton also contributes to the same site.
A typical Clinton campaign post: ”Clinton Unveils Bold Plan to Tackle Energy and Climate Crisis.”
Flowers’ inaugural column: ”The Secret Society of Undercover Button Pushers.”
Flowers says she hopes to use the column to impart wisdom on how to overcome challenges.
”I feel like I have a Ph.D. in life, I’m a survivor. I’ve not only survived, I’ve thrived,” she said.
And she has no advice for Clinton.
”She wouldn’t take any advice from me anyway. Looks like she’s doing just fine on her own,” Flowers said.
Oprah now headed to Williams-Brice Stadium

For all the people that stood in line waiting to get Oprah tickets get ready to be pissed off (you also probably don’t read this blog). The Oprah-Obama event on December 9th has been moved from the Colonel Center to Williams-Brice Stadium and now you don’t even need a ticket. The University of South Carolina football stadium holds over 83,000 people. It will be interesting to see whether they can use their grassroots organization to fill it up.
I just hope Obama knows what he is getting into by going to Williams-Brice because after our football teams collapse this season I’m starting to think it was built on ancient Indian burial grounds. Good luck Barack. You’re going to need it.

Tuesday’s First Round
December 4, 2007 | Filed Under 2008 | Democrats, 2008 | Republicans, The Chaser, Top Shelf News | Leave a Comment

It’s Tuesday.
We are super-pumped because there’s only two more days until Mitt Romney gives his Mormon speech. Everyone’s talking about it. And it seems that Mitt is writing the speech himself.
WHAT!?!? Mitt Romney’s Mormon? Yes, you haven’t been getting the anonymous push polls and emails over the last few months?
Speaking of anonymous push polls, Mike Huckabee could find himself in a little trouble after it was uncovered yesterday that members of his team have started a 3rd party group to help in Iowa. The group is engaging in direct campaign activities, such as push polling, which the group’s director calls “personalized educational artificial intelligence.” That’s cute. Some of those activities may be against the law.
Huckabee has disavowed the calls. What else could he do?
We here at The Shot know what you guys are thinking. We have been concentrating a lot on Mike Huckabee in the last week. You’re right. We have. It’s because we can’t turn on CNN, Fox News, or MSNBC for 30 seconds without hearing the Huckabee love-fest. We’ve heard him speak about 50 times and think he’s a pretty good guy, but figured that there has to be something wrong. So we started checking out this record and learned that he’s got some real baggage on fiscal and immigration policies. And although he seems squeaky clean, he’s had some major ethics issues chasing him for a few years. Why would you register for wedding gifts 30 years after your wedding? Any why would you be talking to a Bill Clinton advisor caught up in sex scandals.
Anyway, we weren’t real surprised to see that the Iowa group is connected to Huckabee.
Also interesting on the Huckabee front, God is responsible for his jump in the polls. When asked by a student why Huck is climbing Rev. Jonathan Falwell said “There’s only one explanation for it and it’s not a human one. It’s the same power that felt that … two fish and five loaves could feed a crowd of 5,000 people. … There literally are thousands of people across this country who are praying that little would become much and it has.”
Hmm…
Here in SC, a new poll as Rudy up front, Mitt in second, and Huck in third. Huck is climbing fast.
Rudy Giuliani is still getting hit with the taxpayer extramarital affair scandal as he continues campaigning around the country. The AP says “Secrecy Issues Dog Giuliani, Clinton.”
If you haven’t seen this video yet, watch it now. It’s freakin’ funny. PS 9-11, 9-11, 9-11.
Yesterday Rudy came out against the Fair Tax plan, which we all remember from the DeMint/Tenenbaum race is a plan to raise your sales taxes on everything by 23%.
Fred Thompson is campaigning in SC today.
Tickets to see Oprah and Obama are GONE!
Things are getting nasty as both Obama and Hillary turn up the heat.
Ron Paul is continuing to shock the world as his online fundraising efforts are going nuts.
In SC…
One of the more interesting stories comes out of Charleston, where the press secretary for Solicitor Scarlett Wilson has been caught blogging anonymously on the Post and Courier’s website. What’s the big deal? He’s been leaking internal information, bashing victims, and criticizing Wilson’s political opponent.
Education Chief Jim Rex is on the stump rounding up support for his education agenda.
Have a great day!

New Poll: Hillary Loses To All Top Five Republicans
November 27, 2007 | Filed Under 2008 | Democrats, 2008 | Republicans, Alex Stroman, Presidential, The Chaser, Top Shelf News | 1 Comment
While Senators Barack Obama and John Edwards continue to lead their Republican counterparts, in a new Zogby poll released today, Hillary Clinton, the democrat front runner, loses to all top five republican presidential contenders. In their July poll, Senator Clinton did lead McCain by two points, Guiliani by five, Thompson by six, and Romney by 10. Huckabee was not matched against Ms. Clinton in the July poll.
Some Democrats have expressed concerns about the former first lady’s electability in a race against Republicans. The survey showed Clinton not performing as well as Obama and Edwards among independents and younger voters, pollster John Zogby said.
“The questions about her electability have always been there, but as we get close this suggests that is a problem,” Zogby said.
Obama, an Illinois senator, and Edwards, a former North Carolina senator, both hold narrow leads over the Republican contenders in the hypothetical 2008 match-ups.
“It all points to a very competitive general election at a time when many people think the Democrats are going to win the White House,” Zogby said.
The poll of 9,355 people had a margin of error of plus or minus one percentage point.

Well, not according to Whit Ayers, who’s new poll puts Romney in a dead heat with Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Senator John McCain. Former Senator Fred Thompson continues his downward spiral.
On the Dem side, Clinton is killing. It’s bad news for Obama, but for Edwards, its means game over.

Clinton cites Graham

In tonights CNN Democrat Debate from Las Vegas, Sen. Hillary Clinton cited her work with Sen. Lindsey Graham on how she is capable of uniting the nation? Is this good for Sen. Graham during his re-election?
