Brownback should move on down the road

If you are a South Carolina politico, you know that Hal Stevenson is a guy you want on your team.  He, and perhaps State Senator Kevin Bryant, are about the only good things Senator Sam Brownback has going for him in South Carolina.  That’s why we were very shocked to see Stevenson tell Lee Bandy that Brownback “can’t go on much longer.”

Ouch! That hurts coming from one of your top supporters…especially one the caliber of Stevenson.

We’ve always liked Sam Brownback. He’s been a good Senator, but lately he has a been a real jerk.  We would like to use other words to describe Senator Brownback’s attitude toward every other Republican running, but those words won’t fit nicely with our family values readers.

Sam Brownback’s holier-than-thou attitude is the embodiment of everything that drives people away from values positions.  Instead of welcoming converts and folks who are more with you than not, Brownback’s team chastises every candidate who isn’t 100% with him.  Guess what Team Brownback…that means you chastise most Americans too telling them “you aren’t good enough to be a Republican.” And even worse, Brownback’s team makes people feel like “you aren’t good enough to be a Christian.”

Brownback’s platform is one of tearing candidates apart and dividing Republicans in a year that folks are already down on Republicans.  That message isn’t resonating and the best its doing is providing good ammo for Obama or Clinton.

It’s time for Brownback to drop out. We would harp on this some more, but Rich Lowry has already said most of what we feel. Check out his piece here.

I respected Brownback until I found out that he has the Terry Schiavo family as a paid member of his election team.

The BEST thing about Ames was getting rid of Brownback (although he doesn’t know it). I am in favor of Romney, but I came to the conclusion I would rather have Romney loose than Brownback beat Huckabee. Fortunately I got the best of both worlds. Brownback simply inspires division. Romney and Huck inspire hope.
