Boyd Brown Nets $20K at Fundraiser
Move over Bakari Sellers. You’re about to be the second youngest member of the State House. Boyd Brown, 21-year old Democratic candidate for S.C. House District 41, raised over $20,000 at a fundraiser last week in Columbia.
These impressive numbers come nearly seven months before the June 10, 2008 primary election.
The event was sponsored by Mrs. Walter Brown and former state Senator John Martin and the host list included former Superintendent of Education Inez Tenenbaum, Robert Barber, former Sen. Tommy Moore, and former College of Charleston president Alex Sanders, among others.
I recently spoke with a top Democrat operative who said it would take about $30,000 to $40,000 to win that race.
While I definitely not going to endorse a Democrat here, I must say this is a strong way to begin a race.
