AP: Ravenel’s father tapped as Giuliani’s S.C. campaign co-chair

GREENVILLE, S.C. | The father of indicted South Carolina Treasurer Thomas Ravenel was on Monday named campaign co-chairman for Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani in this early voting state.

The younger Ravenel, 44, was indicted last week on a federal cocaine charge and accused of buying less than 500 grams of the drug to share with other people, prosecutors said.

Ravenel had been state chairman for Giuliani’s South Carolina campaign. The day the indictment was made public, the campaign said he had left but did not release any more details.

Ravenel’s father, Arthur, is a former state senator and South Carolina congressman. Arthur Ravenel, 80, will head up the campaign in southeastern area of the state for Giuliani.
