A Distorted View of History

The jokers in the SC blogosphere are trying to rewrite history in an attempt to label Team Romney “negative scumbags.” Over the past week The Governor’s Spokesman, Rick Quinn, and SCHotline’s terrific trio of Mike Green, Adam Piper, and Jeffrey Sewell have been posting articles claiming that Romney’s SC state director Terry Sullivan and consultant Warren Tompkins were responsible for attacks on John McCain in 2000 and Mark Sanford in 2002. Obviously they have a distorted view of history. Here are the facts:

Terry Sullivan was not involved in the Bush 2000 or Peeler 2002 campaigns.

Warren Tompkins was not involved in the Peeler 2002 campaign. He was a Bush consultant in 2000, but both the SC Bush campaign and Peeler campaigns were run by Heath Thompson who is currently Rudy Giuliani’s national media director.

In 2002 Mark Sanford filed charges against, ironically, his current mail vendor Walter Whetsell of Starboard Communications for starting a 3rd party attack group on behalf of Bob Peeler. As news trucks stormed Whetsell’s business, he had to leave the Columbia area until things cooled down. Walter Whetsell is currently Fred Thompson’s SC consultant. Oh, and Mike Green, one of the jokers who have been posting these re-writes of history on SCHotline, is an employee of Whetsells.

As far as we know, only one person has admitted involvement in the rumored push polling against John McCain in 2000. Care to know who? It was Mike Campbell, current State Director for Mike Huckabee who once told Vanity Fair magazine that he was involved in the negative tactics.

So next time you read these stories about Mitt Romney’s SC team, remember how incestial SC politics is and know that members of Giuliani’s, Thompson’s, and Huckabee’s campaigns were a part of the 2000 and 2002 attacks. They would rather just cower behind a computer keyboard than tell the truth.

I have my ideas about this scam…and they revolve around this: The most powerful (and ruthless) machine in SC is the Sanford Camp. They are desperate to ensure that a northerner, (especially Rudy) come to SC needing SC (via Sanford) to move forward on the path toward the White House.

An inflammatory Christmas card goes out, pointing out the differences between Mormonism and Protestantism (and screwing Romney in the process). Sanford’s people have been saying, on deep background, that Campbell may have something to do with it…thereby pointing the finger at Huck. ( I wonder if the Shot got their Campbell info from the Sanford people?)

So…in one swipe, Romney and Huckabee are hit with mud, and Rudy’s hands are clean. Of course Rudy’s people may not even know about this. But Sanford’s thugs are gearing everything he does around becoming VP…so, my nose smells a rat at the mansion, where the third worst governor in the US resides.

PS>>>Anybody seen Chris Drumond hanging around the post office lately?

Kango - interesting. But trust us, the Sanford folks don’t leak information to us. They use their spokesman over at fitnews.com for that.

All I know is what I have seen. Romney has run a dirty campaign and I could never support him for that.
After the Chapin Labor Day parade Romney supporters yelling at the Rudy and Brownback supporters made me sick.

I say guilty on all counts. Yes, you all did the dirty stuff to McCain.

Yeah I must be guilty since I was living in Georgia attending Marietta High School during the 2000 primary.

Seriously you caught me. I orchestrated the entire smear campaign from my parents’ house despite knowing only three people from South Carolina at the time. I’m just that badass.

Guilty, I think you need to go back to high school and learn some math. Then you would realize that I was sixteen at the time all this happened. Remember ignorance is a curable disorder.
