Sanford for VP?

Monday, December 31st, 2007

Mark Sanford will be the Vice Presidential candidate in 2008? That’s what a couple of the boys over at Redstate think. Check it out.

We give the Governor a hard time, but we love this idea for one big reason - GOVERNOR ANDRE BAUER!

Now that would be fun to watch, and blog about.

What the Huck? Huck goes negative…sorta

Monday, December 31st, 2007

Mike Huckabee spent all day yesterday filming a negative ad bashing Romney after running a ad disavowing negative attacks. The guys starting speak as much “straight talk” as John McCain.

Anyway, after cutting the ad and shipping it to stations, he pulled the ad claiming to have had a change of heart. However, he still showed it to the media because he obviously wants to still get the message out while looking like the good Christian guy who would never say anything negative about another.

Here’s the story.

Here’s the ad.

Here’s a crock of BS from Mike Huckabee. But what else to do expect from a man who was investigated 14 separate times by his state ethics commission. Shady…

Our message to Mike Huckabee - MAN UP!

Beasely in Iowa

Monday, December 31st, 2007

Former SC Governor David Beasely seems to be having a good time up in Iowa for the Huckabee campaign. That’s all we have to say about that. Our New Year’s resolution is to be nice to David Beasely.

More McCain Straight Talk

Monday, December 31st, 2007

Now that McCain’s on the rise in New Hampshire, his “straight talk” is increasingly being questioned. Today the Politico questions his connections to DC lobbyists. This story comes on the heals of news that McCain put pressure on the New York Times to squash a lobbyist scandal story.

According to McCain campaign manager Rick Davis:

“There’s never been anybody who’s done more to rein in special interests and lobbyists than John McCain.”

But as The Politico points out:

As a presidential candidate this year, McCain has found himself assiduously courting both lobbyists and their wealthy clients, offering them private audiences as part of his fundraising. He also counts more than 30 lobbyists among his chief fundraisers, more than any other presidential contender.

Hmm…

McCain: “I’ve never supported Amnesty”

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

This morning “Straight Talk” John McCain said he never supported Amnesty. Really? Well Senator, what do you call it when your plan lets illegal immigrants stay here permanently?

Just in case you are wondering, we call it bull s**t.

SC Republicans Receive Bogus Romney Christmas Card

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

Picture from the AP.

We’ve seen some dirty tricks in our day, but this is by far the dirtiest.  So dirty in fact the people behind the attack could face jail time.

An unknown number of Republicans across South Carolina received a bogus Christmas card last week saying that it was from “The Romney Family” and paid for by the “Boston Massachusetts Temple.”  The card quoted controversial passages from The Book of Mormon, including one about the Virgin Mary’s race.

The Romney campaign and the Boston Mormon Temple say they had nothing to do with the attack.

Jim Davenport of the AP reports:

South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Katon Dawson said he intends to “contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Elections Fraud Division and other appropriate authorities, provide them the copy of the mail piece delivered to South Carolina Republicans and ask for a thorough investigation into this matter.”

However, experts tell us that this trick may fall into another category other than elections fraud. Because the card indicates that it is being sent by a person/group  other than who actually sent it, it could be mail fraud which carries stiffer penalties than elections fraud.

Romney regains lead in Iowa (UPDATED)

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

This week all eyes will be on Iowa. As the Sunday morning talking heads continued saying “Mike Huckabee leads in Iowa” all morning long, two polls came out that said otherwise.

According to a new ARG poll, Mitt leads Huck 32 to 23. McCain comes in third with 11. All other candidates are in single digits.

A McClatchy - MSNBC poll shows Romney with a 4% lead over Huckabee, within the margin of error. Huckabee dropped 8 points.

(UPDATE) A new Reuters poll just came out showing “Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor, held a statistically insignificant one-point edge over former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, 29 percent to 28 percent.”

SC McCain Camp Running Blog

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

We love this story just because it allows us to use this picture again.

Politico has a new story about the relationship between the McCain campaign and the blog Palmetto Scoop.

Lots of “Straight Talk” going on here. As we’ve been telling you, former SC House Majority Leader Rick Quinn created Palmetto Scoop a few months back, probably because he was bored after losing his re-election campaign. Or maybe its because the Golden Tee machine was removed from The Back Porch. That’s what we hear anyway. We aren’t allowed in The Back Porch anymore. McCain camp only…seriously, no crap.

In order to keep his name off the blog, Quinn brought in Adam Fogle from Georgia to run the site a few months after it was already up.

Now, Fogle likes to call the Quinn’s “unpaid advisors” to McCain, but let’s be real for a minute. The Quinns run the McCain camp. Fogle works for Rick Quinn at his mail shop Mail Market Strategies. Mail Market Strategies is in the same office as the McCain SC campaign.

Fogle admits that he is pro-McCain and anti-Romney. We give Fogle some props for finally telling the truth. But we all know that the relationship goes well beyond that.

Last week we received a piece of mail from the McCain campaign touting his “straight talk.” That mail was most likely printed by the Quinns. So, why can’t we get some straight talk out of Rick Quinn and his face, Adam Fogle?
